Q: What is Wavecom role in RIPlink?
A:  Wavecom is the originator of the RIPlink specification, standardisation and promotion work. Wavecom is currently the editor of RIPlink specifications and the administrator of the RIPlink.org website.
Q: Does Wavecom offer RIPlink based products?
A:  Wavecom will offer a RIPlink software Plug-In? for its range of GSM/GPRS/EDGE/HSPA cellular Wireless-CPUs® devices. With this Plug-In?, Wavecom customers will be able to design and deploy RIPlink Gateways that interface between the cellular world ans other worlds such as ZigBee?, PLC, proprietary ISM and more. Q: Do other companies offer RIPlink based products?
A:  Several companies are in the process of evaluating RIPlink, in particular to offer RIPlink porting or applications on network technologies such as ZigBee? and Power Line Communication. See RIPlink Adopters Products for more details.
Q: Who can use RIPlink name and logo?
A:  The RIPlink name and logos are trademarks, currently property of Wavecom. Their use is restricted by terms and conditions to ensure reference to RIPlink guaranties a minimum feature set and interoperability, and subject to Trademark Use Guidelines. If you are interested in using RIPlink name and logo, contact us.
Q: Are there identified Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) on RIPlink?
A:  There is no IPR known to Wavecom today with the RIPlink specifications. This does not guarantee there is none. Wavecom does not claim any patents on the RIPlink specifications. Depending on companies utilizing RIPlink, there may be rights associated with RIPlink-enabled products.
Q: How do I make a RIPlink product?
A:  If you are interested in making a RIPlink product, you can start developing on your own product based on the resources available on this website, or contact companies engaged in RIPlink developments to integrate such work. You will have to contact us for the right of use of RIPlink name and logo for your commercial product.
Q: What is the difference between RIPlink and Virtual-IP (V-IP) or IP next (IPnxt) technologies promoted by Wavecom in the past?
A:  There is no difference: Virtual-IP, IPnxt or RIPlink designate the exact same technology. To gain broader visibility on this technology, RIPlink name has been chosen and protected as a Trade Mark. Virtual-IP and IPnxt are obsolete and should not be used anymore.
